We chose to continue exploring the area and prepared to drive to Ingonish. But we made a wrong turn and ended up going to Louisbourg instead. Great choice though. Louisbourg is was named for Louis the 14th and built by Louis the 15th. The Fortress is the biggest historical reconstruction in North America. Unfortunately, we arrived in Louisbourg in the mid afternoon, a bit late to properly tour the fortress but it was just as well because Jackson had come along, so we toured the area and had the opportunity to visit Canada’s oldest lighthouse. The view from the lighthouse is amazing.
Tomorrow we plan to drive the Cabot Trail which is 184 miles long. Keep following!
